Fire and Flow

Belisama - our wood fired bread oven

Despite the perception that Kimmy and I are extraordinarily busy I think we are beginning to discover helpful routines among all the new moving parts of our operations.

And routines are a good thing. They provide familiarity and much needed respite from the chaos that major changes bring.

And although there are periods of fiery intensity, these are increasingly being followed by times of extreme relaxation, resembling part of what Katie Spring calls “laying fallow.”

With the decreasing amount of light we get to see each day until after the Winter Solstice, we’ve been embracing the darkness and surrendering to the sufficiency of a day’s work rather than burning more unnecessary midnight oil.

We hope you too are easing into the flow of the season and basking in dusky glow of winter’s quiet solitude.

Latin flavors to ring in the New Year

Come to Trigo in Westport for a special Puerto Rican holiday dinner with local foods from area farms to celebrate the season.

We’ll be featuring such soulful delights as Pernil, Papas Rellenas, Arroz con Gandules, Sopa de Frijoles y Calabaza and most importantly Coquito (the classic Puerto Rican Eggnog).

Register today as seating is limited.

Holiday Markets

We really enjoyed being at the Whallonsburg Grange this past Saturday. It was so nice to see so many folks we know.

Thank you so much also for last weekend’s markets in Westport and Saranac Lake where we had more orders than we expected!

As said earlier, this weekend we’re off to a family party in Cold Spring, NY.

So for the following week, we have two markets planned:

December 21st at Trigo in Westport and December 23rd at the Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake.

Our menu is online and you can preorder now. We’ve also had a few special requests that we’re able to accommodate.

Holiday Cookie Boxes and Gevulde Speculaas are some of our favorites as well, with limited quantities available.

Some other holiday menu highlights:

  • Yuletide Bread
  • Cranberry Almond Loaf
  • Rosemary Focaccia
  • Rustic Sourdough
  • Dinner Rolls
  • Rye w/ Caraway Boule
  • and Sourough Bagels: for easy holiday mornings!
